I’ve been kicking around ideas for my husband’s photography business and that led me to Kickstarter. You know them, right? Well, while there, I noticed that they had a Make 100 initiative beginning in January. Basically, you make 100 somethings for 100 backers. It’s a limited edition challenge that will give newbies a chance to figure out Kickstarter and oldsters a kick in the pants to make something new!
Well, I’m a newbie and I’m looking into Kickstarter for hubby so why not see if there’s a way to use it for my own work?
But what to make? What to do? Photography is interesting, sure, and my husband is a remarkable photographer, but what could we make 100 of? Then it occurred to me that I have something else brewing and I could make 100 somethings related to that! So that’s what I’m going to do. I found a tutorial for making hand-sewn chapbooks, and I happen to have a short story lying about!
A chapbook? I hear you say. Yes, a chapbook. They were all the rage centuries ago and can still be found today, though usually full of poetry. They’re the forefathers of the Penny Dreadfuls and Dime Novels. I will be making 100 by hand to start the year!
Don’t fret, though. I have a partner in crime and she’s wonderful! Who you ask? Well, that’s still a secret.
