Milia’s second book is finished drafting. It’s gone to the beta readers and I’m now going through it, killing my darlings, as it were. Writing this book was like pulling teeth…er, fangs. It started with a vague dream and the desire to return to my young werewolf protagonist. However, I had no idea where it was going. I had no idea what the vague dream meant. I wasn’t sure what was going on and it didn’t solidify until the penultimate chapter, with 10K words left to write. NOW it makes sense. So as I’m editing and reworking things, I finally know what the theme is, I finally know what the point is. Now I need to make sure that my dear readers aren’t flailing their way through the story.

I found it hard to return to Milia, if I’m honest. I’ve always loved her and her story but it has been years since I’d worked with her. I found myself having to go back to the first novel and reread over and over as I tried to remember who the characters were and resurrect them in my head. I’m hoping that I can work with her more often in the future. She still has a list of names, after all.
Next up, a very weighty post-climate apocalypse with aliens and angels that I feel may hit a bit close to home given the current world we live in.
At the back of it all, waiting in the wings, is D’Mique and her journey into the Northlands with a bunch of daemons.
